Ship versus ship: The United States versus Iran

In all the coverage I'd read about the recent confrontations between our and Iranian ships, I only saw pictures of the Iranian ships. So, here are the American ships involved in the January 6, 2008 confrontation:

USS Ingraham, link
U.S. Navy Frigate
453 feet long

USS Hopper, link
U.S. Navy Guided-Missile Destroyer
505 feet long

Port Royal, link
U.S. Navy Guided-Missile Cruiser
567 feet long

A picture of one of Iran's patrol boats, five of which were involved:

Island Home Airport, from where I flew today

Katie bought me a flying lesson for Christmas. Today, I took the lesson. From Knoxville we flew to Gatlinburg and back. Flying is the most fun, ever.

My new website

stephentrmartin.com - Knoxville Bankruptcy

It's very basic, now, and still needs editing. It's a baby.

Girls in their Summer Clothes

While cleaning out my email inbox, I finally listened to a song I'd been sent. Link. In this message there were also a dozen or so comments.

So I finally downloaded the song and listened to it and deleted it. Then I read some of the comments, thought: "that can't be right, that was Bruce Springsteen?" So then I went and found the original post so I could verify. True! Good to know! So, I have undeleted the song. Interesting song. I like them both so much. I'd even like to hear Mr. Merritt return the favor, now.

The current campaign for Presidency

"this is the first election since 1928 in which neither the sitting president nor the sitting vice president has sought their party's nomination." Link

It will be Giuliani versus Clinton. Clinton will beat him. Democrats are excited to vote, and don't have huge problems with Clinton. Republicans are not excited to vote, and have major problems with Giuliani.

On Persuasion

"I think the object of the game is to get out of the mindset of "getting people to do something" and instead just create a really nice, really open invitation." Link

new documentary on lawyers

Worth a look, but repeats (in one of the four trailers) the usual poster children for ridiculous lawsuits, even the McDonald's coffee suit. Link

For more (better) information on the McDonald's suit: Link

Today was my last day working in Oak Ridge. It was a great place for me, but it is time for me to hang my hat in another place, namely: Knoxville. I'm on my own, now. (Not completely on my own though, as I have some good support.)

The President used to (occasionally) speak Spanish. He doesn't do that anymore.
